President Obama

Do you know anyone who says “Anglo-American heritage” in a sentence? What could possibly be the purpose of saying that other than to pit Americans against each other? For the chief law enforcement officer to use a dog whistle like that is appalling. Best NO vote I ever cast.

Context makes a difference though. With Obama you can assume he’s simply making a history reference to the origin of the US legal system. With Sessions, I’m not sure you can. Though unclear why the qualifier is needed at all. As opppsed to what? Spanish? Native American?

Louisiana has its basis in the Code Napoleon. Everywhere else is in US is erected on a mix of English common law principles, statute and our constitutional norms, a lot of which we borrowed from the Glorious Revolution/English Bill of Rights/Magna Carta
