That sounds like a different word. AFAIK in Urdu at least, gum- is always a lost/unknown prefix (gumrah =lost, gumnaam= anonymous etc).
Don't have a dictionary on me; I'd recommend pulling up an Arabic dictionary and looking up the jidr (root) -- g-m-r (geem; meem; ra).
Other replies confirm it is Farsi root :)
