How many truly distinct global consciousnesses exist, as in a planetary-scale ethos of being?
I count only 2: American and Japanese. The USSR almost got there but didn’t.
Europe, even at peak colonialism, remained continental-parochial. China seems headed that way too.

Wouldn’t feudal qualify too, and it has been around for much longer too. Morphed somewhat (in some places), but still v recognisable
