I like comparing my working style to other writers, especially older dead ones One of the surprising things about this is that writers you admire often turn out to be nothing like you. Which makes any imitation efforts more interesting Douglas Adams for eg was nothing like me

Yeah it doesn’t. Writing is not very social and there is not much sharing at the process level unlike code. I have no real process. I rewrite quite a bit, but to get the idea working, not to polish the words.
