Stackoverflow plus regex101.com plus a few basic tricks are all I've ever needed.
Advanced regexes e.g. to validate an email are sophesticated algorithms that I just reach for a library wrapping them

Using regex on English dictionary helped me internalize some of the rules. The quest to find 9-letter words ending in -ing was incentive enough to learn difference between $ and ^ which always got me.

rubular.com is by far my favorite tool for learning regex. Easy to play around in and you start to pick up patterns as you write your regexes in it.
