Half of all scheduling activity is actually procrastination in disguise. Not driven by any actual hard temporal constraints or coordination problems. The shift of "call anytime" phone culture to scheduled calls is a rare uptick in sync overhead in overall desynchronizing world

Hypothesis: overall desynchronization meant tearing down a lot of walls. We still need *some* protection for our time... hence scheduling overhead.

Related hypothesis: desynchronized only really works if we're mostly asynchronous. So we need to increase the cost of getting our time synchronously.

Calls themselves are extremely synchronous, like a sudden global mutex lock on your whole activity. Scheduling calls is a way to reclaim normal desync existence from such catastrophic events.
