Men who aren't supported often take that out on the women in their lives. They get clingy, angry, dangerous. They're not just in the way, they're a threat. Whereas men who are loved and supported can do great things (and without victimizing others).

Being loved and supported in only one of two major ways, and I think only suits about half of all men. The other half basically need to go explore some sort of frontier through 20s. I think being kicked out of the collective and finding a hero’s journey back is sort of innate.

There are basically two kinds of personas guys inhabit in their 20s “Be my leader” types looking to lose themselves in a tribe and relate as unequals in a hierarchy “Let’s go hunt together, I know where there’s some nice wild boar” types, looking to relate as equals in a band
