So is "the ladder of abstraction" an anti-intellectual framework, because abstraction goes upward? http://worrydream.com/LadderOfAbstraction/ …

Possibly. Bret Victor thinks interesting thoughts, but doesn’t seem to actually enjoy thinking.

My impression is thinking is the *only* thing he enjoys! Your #68 made me think of him. ("The intellectual experiences genuine delight in seeing computers think thoughts they cannot think.") I don't know anyone as excited about computing as "media for thinking the unthinkable."

Possibly, I don’t follow his work closely

Depth metaphor felt too 2-D. I prefer a gordian knot or strange loops characterization which preserves inwardedness while adding dimensionality which is core feature of intellectualizing. Anti-intellectuals tend to prefer flatness. Some kiki / bouba at play here too methinks.

Intellectualizing still mostly a hero's journey though. Diving into depths mostly imagined as a race to solitary endeavors which I find not fun. Shiver thinking about Schopenhauer's solitude. Wonder what equivalent boat stories for intellectualizing are?

After reading mind meld romance of Kahneman and Tversky, I think there are cognitive kindred pairings that outperform their individual capacities.

Yes and this is a theme of Bret Victor who I mentioned earlier. He claims that humane thought is communal and embodied. (See http://dynamicland.org and Ctrl+F for "50-year project.")

That I disagree with. Aspects are communal, but there’s an essential part that’s inaccessible from a communal experience. It’s a metaphysics point, not a sociology/psychology/UX point (existentialism basically)
