Basically trying to identify non-precious-snowflake-artisan/non-libertarian-ideologue maker-arbitrage opportunity spaces

Have you DIYed something from Home Depot level materials that most people buy? Something essential and important, not artisan crapjects (eg. a house, a car, a computer, plumbing or electrical system...) What was it and was it financially worth it? (not spiritually)

There is practical stuff, though maybe more expansive than just Home Depot level goods: I built my speakers, do as much of my own car repairs as possible, built good furniture. There's a few useful Arduino projects. How much of that is artisan? Ehhhh. But some must exist

On the regular. Often when "visiting" places for 30 days or longer. Desks, bookshelves, movable walls/dividers, butcher's block, photo studio (stands, back-drop, light box, etc), a therapy light , 7 years ago I refused to build ANYTHING.
