I feel bad about reading Wikipedia summaries of vast histories, quick glosses of big fat books, plot summaries of novels, etc. But increasingly I find it’s the only way to get anything done. Full read=luxury I’d pay for a custom summaries service with my priorities in mind

It varies, some might be deep and academic. Key is knowing my work reasonably well (so upfront investment) and reading, or re-reading, with a particular project context in mind. Probably I just need to hire a research assistant.

Not sure there’s a business here tbf. Much of the demand is institutionally based and they have their own supply. Indie research needs likely won’t have good scaling patterns.
