It's more basic than that. Entropy can be cast precisely as a measure of ignorance: more ignorance of the system means a higher entropy system. Granting information about the system (and thereby constraining its possible states) leads to a reduction in entropy.

Ie whom does “granting more information” refer to? Are we constraining the state of a system or the state of an observer’s knowledge of a system? When I notice a pattern in a system, it’s *my* information state that is lowered in entropy, system constrainedness has not changed
