What's the argument against writing books in "modules"? i.e. clearly marked sections within chapters that you only read if you want X, or Y, or Z, basically differentiating basic vs. advanced material to serve different audiences

You lose much of the sum-greater-than-parts network effect of writing a book. Might as well right a series of articles if you want to go modular. A book should be a compounding read, hard to disassemble.

Maybe I’ll do “base” as a relatively short book, and then have PDF implementation guides like GTD
