I don't care to speculate what eats what next. It's like the damn Hobbesian state of war of all against all in CS now

I think AlphaGo Zero is considered "self-supervised"? Because it relies on having a perfect simulator that can generate infinite training data. medium.com/@karpathy/alph

Yes, that's a rare condition, but not as rare as it might seem. You can do the same with driving for example (learn from grand theft auto)
