Hmm is there a corresponding "female empathy syndrome"? Providing empathy when answers are sought?https://twitter.com/micahtredding/status/939577638200512512 …

The definition of “male answer syndrome”, as I heard it, was the compulsion to provide an answer when someone is seeking empathy instead.

I so agree with all of this, my only change would be "masculine" and "feminine" vs male/female since I know plenty of women with those so-called masculine traits and vice versa!

Empathy and sympathy aren't the same thing. A truly empathic person will realize when the other person wants an answer instead of wanting sympathy (not empathy, which is simply the act of understanding the other person's feelings).

Doctors do that a lot, provide empathy when answers are sought but the profession hasn't got any. It's also a dodge bureaucrats play with the public and superiors with inferiors.

The problem is always missing empathy to understand that others don't choose their communication style not to spite you, but because their mind works in different ways

Here’s a group of people trying to define “female answer syndrome” along similar lines. …http://creative-writing-mfa-handbook.blogspot.com/2005/11/female-answer-syndrome.html?m=1 …

I have “social media account ambiguity syndrome”, supplying unwanted comments explaining to people that situations are nuanced and answers lead only to unintended consequences and the next set of problems
