Oh come on. Military bootcamp, any tough technical exam, immigration. Plenty of experiences that have the transformative potential. Which one you respond to depends on your particular strengths and blindspots. Sales training hits those with blindspots in social anxiety department

For me, monasticism. Not what you'd expect it to be (blissed out, relaxed, quiet, calm, perfect stillness). It's a giant environmental feedback loop designed to have selfishness cause suffering, selflessness cause happiness
