That's an implementation detail. Beyond 1 level up, nonsensical to reason about physics of world except for how they must be greater.

I don't think that's true—there's a set among whom it's received wisdom. Certainly more popular than the simulation hypothesis.

Except for 1-2 outliers, generally not a powerful or influential set. A lot of people make noises/gestures in that direction for PR though
