Why's that? Simulation or not, there *is* obviously a base reality. Reaching other star systems or leveling up into an N-1 reality is ~same.

It's unnecessary, the probability math is specious beyond even Pascal's wager and it adds absolutely nothing interesting to my thinking menu

I don't understand it. Doesn't the logic follow that any "real" world you "unplug" into is equally likely to be a sim? Sims all the way up.
