Aside: the accounts would be subtly different. Aquinas=here's a reason. Mahabharata/Gita=sometimes ends justify saying "screw dharma rules"

Aquinas is fundamentally virtue ethics with king as model of Christian virtue. Gita= rule of law above any king, but exceptional times etc

Chinese ethics is modern closest to traditional Christian: rule *by* law over rule *of* law, with king (== communist party) above the law
