In what way are you neurally atypical in terms of subjective mental experience (eg. aphantasia, synesthesia, other nameless things...)?

I've always seen visual noise/static when looking into dark rooms, since childhood.

Remember trying to explain it to other people as a child w/o knowing how to describe it, or others having any idea what I was talking about.

Also comes to me pretty easily, esp. if I'm looking for it - like just from looking at a blank surface in a fairly dimly-lit room.

I experience this too! Exactly as you describe it. It used to scare me as a child that it wasn't normal, so I just haven't talked about it.

So it's definitely not a normal thing? Do you have an astigmatism?

I've talked to other people who don't experience it, or at least not anywhere as easily at it comes to me.

Can you share an image that kinda illustrates what you see? Is it like noise screen on tv?
It's not like the fine points you get in TV screen noise.
This is the closest I could find. youtu.be/Q_Ylp0GXwPA?t=
This with a bluish tint maybe. Sorry for ridiculous source video.

This comparison seems fairly accurate for one I could find right away, but only for darker or less detailed objects & the noise is brighter.
