Quite possibly, but gut check suggests that it is unlikely the imbalance goes that way... it would be non-adaptive/evolved out if majority

i think all of part 2 could have been avoided if you'd only said "suffering" rather than "pain" in the beginning.

it seems like a truer measure of what you're talking about; falling-short civilisations can cause suffering without "pain" too.
