Ultimately taste is a critic's concern. In a producer its at best a super-ego that needs to be kept firmly in check.
Eg. George Lucas once said, "I'm now rich enough that I can afford to make bad movies the rest of my life"
taste is subjective, i will argue Venky's twitter avi has evolved more in the direction of commercially encoded tastefulness he abhors.
