I keep wishing you had talked about act 3. That's the most unmoored part of the whole thing I think

Also I suspect careers tend to go counterclockwise while personal lives go clockwise?

I don't think there's a third act. Unless it's retirement plus gracefully coming in for a soft-landing death.

And yeah makes sense, though one or the other is the A plot of your life, the other is the B plot

Strongly disagree about no third act, especially in LGBT personal-life arcs in my experience
1
Act 1 = coming out, subsuming self into an identity subculture
1
Act 2 = establishing unique place for yourself within said identity subculture
2
Act 3 = getting over caring about what other people in your identity subculture think. Not doing this is a recipe for badness

Your 3 acts are all part of act 1. Very very few get to an act 2 at all in my model. Most stay in act 1 all their life.
