I am still mulling Alan Kay's "disconnected islands of proverbs and truisms" model of epistemology (with accounts for such discrepancies)

Where is that from? I like it. Sounds like foxy thinking.

TL;DR: Three types of thinking: stories, logic, and system dynamics. Most people can only handle the first one.

Interesting. I think it also maps to politics. Stories - right, systems - left, logic - libertarians.

That's very simplistic. Libertarians have the most pervasive (and false) stories. The Left have their fables, too.

Liberals and the left are just as prone to fantasy rhetoric...just different fantasies. Libertarianism = "My Little Pony Starring John Galt"

Sure but they tend to preferentially use one of the 3. Libs for e.g. save fables for ingroup because they know non-libs laugh at Ayn Rand

I honestly can't offer a grand narrative that can compete with MAGA. Or an entirely logic-based case for acting on climate change.
"Donald Trump can't possibly win." Such a disastrous, fictional story. 😊
