Is it just me? I haven't felt this much excitement in tech scene since '97. Between blockchain & machine learning, it's like New Internet 🤔

With hindsight, "Web 2.0" and mobile were both incremental tech advances overall, despite huge GDP added. But ML, blockchain feel truly new.

hard to argue that mobile was incremental in any way in terms of impact. it is the single biggest thing that has made computing ubiquitous.

ML is "applied statistics" & not new. ML more easily implementable now bcos data is readily available and computing is cheap/powerful.

you are right in the sense of these things being the most exciting technically in a while, but business impact is TBD.
