Is it just me? I haven't felt this much excitement in tech scene since '97. Between blockchain & machine learning, it's like New Internet 🤔

With hindsight, "Web 2.0" and mobile were both incremental tech advances overall, despite huge GDP added. But ML, blockchain feel truly new.

Not my experience. I see increasingly different and gradually broadening group of people taking swings. And more global diffusion.

Umm you said you were in 8th grade in 1997, how would you know?
"Garage" in the Bay Area is actually privileged NIMBY locus of innovation 😂. Cloud+Crashing startup costs= innovation moved to cheaper loci.
I think if you adjust for price of real estate, a lot of what looks like worsening inclusiveness will turn out to be just economic sorting
It's become 100x easier to get into tech scene and be visible within it (online). What's gotten more expensive is physical presence in SV

But that's increasingly less necessary/valuable. Visit as needed, go to Sandhill Rd to raise, only move there to scale talent >100 engineers
