If you like the technical side of this stuff, I recommend David Lewis (possible worlds) and Richard Stalnaker (language games) in philosophy
Surprisingly little engineering use of this, in part because it is computational intensive to do multiverse decision support.
The simulations for this used to be pretty hairy though they'd be much easier now ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/42008
