not entirely for fun, and there's no pro-bono component this time around. Genuinely trying a different business model.

Do people really go to MCK for the prestige like they go to Harvard, rather than the effectiveness?

in some cases, yes. Like building a case for actions that looks 3rd party etc, showing "arrival" in big league...
My impression is that these are the *main* reasons people hire McK; but I’ve never worked with them

no that's too cynical. Much of what they do is meat-and-potatoes Excel wrangling that's actually needed.
