I've realized I really dislike "making" durable things.It's either laboring over consumables (food, writing) or action (shaping live events)

...very ironic given 10y in engineering. 'Take only pictures, leave only footprints' is a bad attitude for engineers. Also bad for $-making

Only reason I survived my years of hands-on tech work is that scientific computing can run on disposable code unlike production software

it's a diff order than stuff designed for reuse though. Spent all morning working up a complex contract for eg and hated it

it's the difference between a nail that could be prised out and reused vs a hammer which is meant for it

prod process is what producer experiences. Tool text feels different than to-read text. Ref text (Wikis for eg) is inbetween
