You might have better luck with QuickTime or SnagIt for that. Make a title slide screen movie and copy/paste it on the front.

Can you double the RAM? Also it's good to run with 50% or less-full HD so you have swap space.

You should be able to see how much RAM and processor are being used with Activity Monitor.

Maybe querying https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202043 would help. More RAM is always better. My MBAir has the IIG 5000 & 8 meg & video editing is slow

I have a 500GB internal ssd with ~366 available...also weird that when I run iMovie it reports cpu at 180%
