What are some simple (ie not particle physics) examples of symmetry breaking? Example, 1 and -1 are not symmetric because 1x1=1, -1x-1 != -1

X, Y such that for any T(X), T(Y)=f(T(X)) where f is some sort of simple operator like a sign or mirror image?

that seems to me more like symmetry than symmetry breaking

Replying to @vgr @riemannzeta
the symmetry-breaker is the T for which the f fails, like squaring for the 1, -1 symmetry
