We talk a lot about biz models using metaphors based on current generation of IT infrastructure. Medium=message/Conway's Law? Or sloppiness?

I get what you're saying, but I'm talking about sectoral, lower level of economy where 'econ as dist computer' works less well
Whether or not humans/firms actually have control, levels where they *think* they do behave differently as a result of that belief
I think the allocation view is only relevant where you define what you're competing for as share-of-consumer-wallet
See, I don't think that metaphor works at all. The stories we tell run on a different computer.
I like dist computing metaphor a lot too and used it in breaking smart. I just don't think it's as complete as you think.

We talk about movement of focus up & down a text file using metaphors from Bronze Age IT, so it's probably fine.
