Many mechanisms can destroy complexity at large scales (quakes, novas, nukes), but only 1, evolution, seems to create arbitrary complexity

I didn't say evolution cannot also destroy on a large scale. Just that it seems uniquely capable of creating complexity.

Evolution is nature's way of maximizing entropy - in absence of something better. All tend toward entropy, but catastrophes are faster
