there's a field related to game development called "serious games", I always found that odd. Also, people get serious about chess & go.

america's army (the video game/recruitment tool) seems to sit on the fence. Is it a serious game? Depends on context IMHO.

providing value to others = serious, value to oneself = play So, jogging = play but jogging for a cause = serious
