Has anybody studied whether widespread precarity or widespread security+prosperity produces more good art/culture? I suspect latter eg 1920s

I don't think you need utopian societies for that. All production/consumption beyond basic survival is signaling to big degree

demand doesn't generate supply directly though... you need relative prosperity in childhood to cultivate and mature art talent
