... but to compromise on democracy requires an argument that by doing so creates greater democracy. I am far from convinced.

But for me, it is a point of principle. I don't subscribe to the view that UK might leave the EU, I think that's rather moot / hypothetical.

However, on the remote chance UK did vote to leave, doing so on the reasoning that Turkey might join the EU would be atrocious & shameful.
