Does VR actually create significantly more potential for interactivity than regular video games? Or just amp up sensory immersion factor?

overhyped. Creates visual immersion sometimes, for some people, but doesn't change what you can say. 3d movies.

that's definitely not true. I've tried a few and its nothing like 3D movies. But interaction affordances haven't kept pace

the interfaces that emerge around vr are probably doing that. headset itself is just amping up the intensity of the sensory experience

Gonna take a while, but definitely will. Eventually you'll be able to touch, taste, smell, etc.

Partly the intuitive depth perception, partly the 3D inputs that come with it, 3D data will be far more tangible than ever before.

Think about being able to feel the weight and curve of a virtual basketball as you squeeze it in the dark. Not there yet.
You'd think the user could be trained to accept alternate feedback as walking/running.

VR in it's own unique way is yet another communication medium, albeit with richness & immersiveness diff frm all othr media 1/n
