I'm curious about relative popularity of coding classes vs Shakespeare classes in unsubsidized free-market conditions. Is there MOOC data?

Oddly enough I had same amount of formal ed in both: 4 years of Shakespeare deep-read (2 plays) and programming through high school.

@Seal_Dealer high school English lit was mainly a Shakespeare play. Plus one modern novel, one book of short stories, one poetry collection

i feel like it's weird that the culture insists on comparing them. coding is composition--like writing, architecture, carpentry, etc..

also seems to go like (1) "my competitive edge is in XYZ" (2) "the people must be made to appreciate XYZ"

@Seal_Dealer My older daughters took an online Shakespeare class in high school. 3 tragedies and 3 comedies. Homeschooling FTW
