Grammar and aesthetics wise I want to say "t-shirt", but the whole point is that the letter looks like the garment, so voted "T-shirt".

capital T describes the shape of the shirt. WWII invention for dressing GIs IIRC. Though today "tshirt" and "tee" tbh
