hmmmm. you could call a lot of art conservative "in a sense", in that once they reach a certain amount of mainstreamness, they're safe

this goes for a lot of the contemporary visual art world, imo, even if few of them are politically conservative

i can't think of too much politically conservative art, unless we're talking about, say, american sniper. but my circles are liberal

artists are prone to nostalgia and romanticism of the past, which is a very, arguably, conservative tendency.

Yes, I got to thinking about this via pastoralism. But pastoralism can be romantic without being conservative.

for sure! i mean i find a lot of contemporary art cowardly and uninventive artistically, so it feels conservative to me in that sense
