I kinda dislike photos unless there is something actually interesting to look at in them (eg. Pluto), but am long artwork/cartoons etc.
Photos are shared a lot because they're so easy to produce and put online, but I think artwork/cartoons has higher virality quotient.

Another thing that people miss is that if you discount localized sharing of family/friends photos, photos suddenly look a lot weaker
