Don't forget that new need-to-remember facts might be entering faster than tech takes them out. I think this is in fact the case.

It's dumb to remember capitals now, but having an accurate, current mental model of state of javascript is huge leverage that's not auto yet

1960s engineers had to remember a smaller, more rote, technical context. 2010s engineers have to think like fighter pilots.
