Actually, my goal is generally to gain big picture understanding, not focus on individual facts as much. I gather more general concepts

Meaning, I study the facts to the point where I get a good general understanding, then let go of facts, keep broad knowledge.

So then my understanding of the topic moves to System 1, and I can use System 2 to more quickly analyze new stuff.

So knowing where to get those facts quickly, to bring them up at appropriate times… like stored in files or bookmarks, for example.

the threshold I think is different for diff people, but in general that is when u start forgetting stuff..

I think brain works kind of like a cache- the most recent & most interesting stuff resides in it while others r purged

u still recall older stuff if it has registered in memory by leaving a pointer-some reference that makes it memorable
