but i wonder if it actually does make sense that an alien living for millennia might still waste those millennia chasing immortality

good point! also perhaps the basic "speed of thought" assuming it's not the same for all brain architectures

and maybe there's only so much cruft a brain can take before retrieval issues outweigh the benefits of accumulated experience.
