@vgr Really? Non-native is limited by understanding of other culture; SF is hypothetical based on premise created by author.
A character's name is half the story in fiction. Writing characters in non-native settings is basically same challenge as science fiction

@roundtrip non-native to *audience* not author. Just struck me that failed foreign characters fail in same way as poorly conceived aliens.
