I think learning curves/language vary DRASTICALLY by individual and starting in the wrong place can kill interest in programming. (3/3)

same for all learning, no? The arts, sciences. Lighting fires vs. Filling buckets. Buckets never sustained, just a slog.

when I was a kid I needed to find the right problems that were soluble but interesting. My maths teacher mum was good at finding them

They don't vary *that* drastically. There's a simple (& advanced) way to use most languages. "Beginner langs" underestimate beginners.

how much yak shaving is needed to get the local programming env up and demo-able? Next: how much work to get it on the public internet?
