What's the point of a product being "hand-crafted" if it's one of thousands? What's the point of hand-crafted if you don't know who made it?

I only care if knowing helps assess quality ("non-Markovian" products). Knowing provenance for its own sake seems pointless.

hmm... good idea there. Personalizable supply chain. Economies of scale+variety together. Should be doable with smart s/w.
