But this is a seriously interesting question. How much of my meaningful reach here is exclusively to twitter vs substack/mailchimp/other platforms? What’s the amplifier effect?
Is it worth $8/mo?
Is it worth the drops of enablement of shit I object to?

I mean $8/mo is ridiculously irrelevant. The time you spend is far far more valuable. FWIW you reach me here far more *often* than those other platforms, even tho I follow you on Substack and subscribe to your mailing list.

Not about the money at least for people like us. About the interplay of medium and politics of pay-to-play.

Give it a try, dispose of it. Come back again when new features are out. Dispose again, till you figure out that you never actually needed it. There should be a name for this.

I went and found your book, found your Substack after finding you here. Why don’t you stay and see how it changes along the way?

I suspect a lot of platforms are about to invent things like that permit us to translate large parts of the Twitter social graph elsewhere.

You should A/B test it, like announce it / don't a few weeks and see what happens. Might be able to tease out some impact directionality.

I’ve been watching you go through this agony and it reminds me of the time a few years back when everybody was agonizing about ditching FB. For me ditching FB was not some “moment” so much as a gradual process of dying on the vine as I found alternatives that met my needs.
