This is basically the tweet of the decade. Younger GenX/older millennials are the low interest rate generation. Everything we think is true is suspect in a higher interest rate world.

This is the monetarist explanation of premium mediocre. I’m like 40% low interest rate pm generation. I do recall Ancient Times before 2022 when I got 3-4% on US bank deposits. Uber and other lifestyle apps are obviously part of it. Is Twitter as well?

In a higher interest rate world, would I have been doing something else instead of tweeting incessantly this last decade? Low interest rate eras make renters apathetic and owners paranoid and deranged.

I also wonder if I’d have been a gig economy type in a high interest rate world. It disproportionately boosted new economy where I’m unemployable and slowed down old economy where I was probably once employable

I have met many tech gig workers who are working at fees that have shocked me. I sense a lot of that is drying up right now. Like $800/hour / $3-4k a day type stuff.
