This is the monetarist explanation of premium mediocre. I’m like 40% low interest rate pm generation. I do recall Ancient Times before 2022 when I got 3-4% on US bank deposits. Uber and other lifestyle apps are obviously part of it. Is Twitter as well?

In a higher interest rate world, would I have been doing something else instead of tweeting incessantly this last decade? Low interest rate eras make renters apathetic and owners paranoid and deranged.

I also wonder if I’d have been a gig economy type in a high interest rate world. It disproportionately boosted new economy where I’m unemployable and slowed down old economy where I was probably once employable

That's one thing I liked about piggington.com when house searching, it really shined a light on the functional impact of interest rates on house prices -- and when to ignore the "20% down" rule so many family members tout religiously

It is kind of weird to consider how axiomatic the idea has become that the Fed funds rate has a “natural” baseline of 0-1%. I’m coping; I still viscerally expect it to drop right back to 0.5 after this episode even if I know it’s not guaranteed.
