I think your confidence is misplaced. Until DeSantis showed off his power and Oz lost senate, I’d say trump was still the lead guy for 2024. Local state stuff is weirdly decoupled in some ways.

I think your mistake is thinking trump is a red state phenomenon. He’s not really, that’s why he managed to surprise *both* red and blue state trad politicians in 2016. Until almost the last minute of the GOP primaries, the red state establishment, Fox, nobody took him seriously.

The Dems lack a civil war rebel whose endorsements are a currency people fight for.
Who among the Dems has been able to play kingmaker against the party core? AOC is personally powerful among her squad members but can’t do that. Not yet. Jaypal etc keep doing performative bs

Now Trump’s endorsements have been highly devalued but we’ll see. 2 years is a long time. DeSantis could screw up the next hurricane etc.
